Women's Generations Tea (4)
How has serving in the church alongside of godly women influenced your walk with the Lord?”
I have been blessed because I have grown up with a godly family and have attended Plainfield Bible since I was a baby. As I have grown up, I have had several godly women in my life, some that are still helping me grow and some who have gone home to be with the Lord. I am thankful that there are women in my life that teach me by example. (Titus 2:1-5). Titus 2 is about older and younger women and older and younger men. Since we are all women, I will only focus on the women verses.
Titus 2:1 says, “but as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.”
I have been taught to be like Acts 17:11. “Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so." So you need to be discerning.
Verse 3 says, “Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good.”
As one godly woman at PBC says, “tend to your own knitten’.” If you have trouble guarding your tongue, as most of us women do, you can pray Psalms 141:3, “Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.”
Verses 4 and 5 say, “So that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.”
Young women, practice loving and submitting to your father so you can love and submit to your husband. Older women, please be the godly example we need to see by loving and submitting to your husband. As Pastor always says, “don’t be a good example of a bad example.”
