Women's Thursday Morning Fall Bible Study (1)

"Twelve Extraordinary Women"

The Ladies Thursday Morning Fall Book Study was a wonderful time to join others in the middle of the week for fellowship and Bible study.  Together we studied "Twelve Extraordinary Women" by John MacArthur.  An interesting twist to our usual book studies, was that different women prepared and led each chapter.  It was both fun and impressive to see how each lady had studied and prepared, and then ways in which each one prompted us to share our own findings.

Even though I had already studied this same book a few years prior with the women of PBC, the Lord had fresh lessons to teach me this time around.  This year, after many years of resisting the fact that Rahab is one of the women listed in the Hebrews "hall of faith", the Lord brought me to a deeper understanding of her and myself.  I was humbled once again that God's forgiveness of someone who lived a lifestyle that looked so 'unredeemable' in man's eyes, was the very same forgiveness that he lavished on me, because He knew that I was just as hopeless and in need of redemption myself, in my life of independence from Him.

Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Rahab and I are actually just alike in our need, and He in His mercy toward us both.  How dare I object to God's redemption of Rahab, when he died for a sinner such as I.  I get it now.
